Baylor basketball

Baylor Basketball stays undefeated and beats Texas 83-69 to strengthen their grip on the Big 12.

The Baylor Bears continue to shine on the court and shoot lights out. Six weeks out from the NCAA Tournament, Baylor Basketball continues to build its resume. Here are three takeaways from tonight’s game.

1) Baylor basketball is legit.

We all know this… right? What I want to touch upon is how dominant they are. Last season, Baylor went 23-3 and the country knew this squad could be in the making of something special. Fast forward to this season, Baylor is 17-0 and has won EVERY GAME thus far by eight or more points (!!!!!!). Last team to do that? The 1991 UNLV Rebels. 30 YEARS AGO. Baylor seems to have a “switch” that whenever they have their lead cut to a few or need to have a scoring run, they are dominant on both sides of the floor. This is the most fun team I have watched in college basketball since Zion Williamson and the Blue Devils.

2) Baylor’s offense is mesmerizing.

A Championship team typically requires all-around guards and strong defense. Baylor can check both off that list. Another helpful trait? Consistent offense – and Baylor has that too. This team is No. 1 in the country from beyond the arc and have FIVE players shooting above 42% from three. You can trust anyone on this squad with the ball in their hands to score, especially Jared Butler, averaging 20.4 PPG and 54% from downtown the past five games. Watching Baylor on offense can be compared to putting that final puzzle piece in the puzzle: so satisfying.

3) Texas is VERY good, don’t question that.

The Longhorns are an incredibly talented squad and one of the best they have had in years. Unfortunately, the timing isn’t great with Baylor being unstoppable as of late. This past Sunday was the first time in three weeks that Texas had their entire team and Head Coach Shaka Smart available at practice. This Texas team will be one of the last remaining in March and once they find their rhythm, they will be even more dangerous than now.
