Team Outlook
The team’s name comes from a motto Xavier had in 2011, when they were upset at players from other teams calling them soft. They proved they were tough, and zipped ‘em up.
Now, in The Basketball Tournament, Zip ‘Em Up will showcase that scrappy way of play and try to make a run in their first appearance.
What has fans most excited about this team is Trevon Bluiett, who played on Xavier’s 2017-18 squad. He also played briefly in the NBA and is now in the G-League.
Bluiett’s experience in the bright lights can benefit this team tremendously, as well as his skill and basketball IQ. JP Macura, who was also a part of that 2017-18 squad in which Xavier won the Big East regular season, is on the roster as well.
Overall, although this season is the team’s first in The Basketball Tournament, Zip ‘Em Up has a serious chance at making a run, possibly competing for the 1 million dollar prize.
