Overall scoop on Incarnate Word basketball

Located in San Antonio, TX, Incarnate Word basketball is still somewhat new to Division I, moving up in 2013. They burst onto the scene with a 21-6 inaugural season and followed it up by going 18-11 and then 17-12.

After that, the Cardinals suffered through eight straight years of losing basketball, only to go 19-17 in 2024-25 and play in the CBI postseason. They would take down Manhattan and Jacksonville before falling to Illinois State in the semifinals.

This past season, Incarnate Word basketball had a rough 12-19 campaign, as head coach Shane Heirman hopes to figure things out.

As a program, being in a big market like San Antonio that just hosted the Final Four in 2025 could be of some benefit. So maybe take some stock in what Incarnate Word basketball might be able to do in the future.
