The college basketball offseason is here, and we decided to have some fun over the next few months, ranking ALL 364 teams in D1. Number 349 is Utah Tech basketball.
Before you say we’re crazy – or that all of this is up for debate, let’s go over the very intricate process of how we came to this conclusion. We took a very statistical approach – with the help of Chat GPT – taking into consideration everything from March Madness wins and finishes, to AP Poll appearances, to conference players of the year. And then, a good friend of ours, Scott Blanchard, took our approach to the MAX.

Overall scoop on Utah Tech basketball
Formerly known as Dixie State, they’re now the Utah Tech Trailblazers, and right off the bat, you’ve got to look at a 19-15 (11-7) campaign last year. That was the first winning season in six years at the DI level, and mostly because of senior Ethan Potter, who was one of the top players in the WAC.
Head coach Jon Judkins has pretty much been at the school his whole life, playing there from 1983-84 and taking over as head coach in 2005. He saw them move from the NJCAA to DII to now DI, winning the WAC Coach of the Year award here in 2026.
Unfortunately, a pair of sophomore standouts have hit the transfer portal, so there’s no telling what’s next for Utah Tech, but Judkins is a good coach who has this program better than some who have joined the D1 ranks.
