The college basketball offseason is here, and we decided to have some fun over the next few months, ranking ALL 364 teams in D1. Number 347 is Central Arkansas basketball.

Before you say we’re crazy – or that all of this is up for debate, let’s go over the very intricate process of how we came to this conclusion. We took a very statistical approach – with the help of Chat GPT – taking into consideration everything from March Madness wins and finishes, to AP Poll appearances, to conference players of the year. And then, a good friend of ours, Scott Blanchard, took our approach to the MAX.

Overall scoop on Central Arkansas basketball

First off, some big props to the Bears, who won their first-ever regular season conference title in 2026, going 15-3 in the Atlantic Sun and finishing 22-12 overall. Camren Hunter transferred back to town after spending some time with the Wisconsin Badgers and had an unbelievable season, winning the A-Sun Player of the Year.

Hunter joins Jordan Howard as the second player at Central Arkansas to win a conference POY award. Jordan Howard did it in 2018 when the Bears were in the Southland.

And long before they ever dreamed of being DI, Central Arkansas basketball was once led by a player by the name of Scottie Pippen. The future Basketball Hall of Famer grew a few inches and went from a walk-on to an All-American at the NAIA level. And the rest is history.

Some very interesting history overall for a Central Arkansas basketball program that also seems to be in a good spot after winning its most games in a season in 20 tries in Division I.
