Evans shines in crunch time, leads Texas Tech back to sweet 16 with win over Florida
The 3rd seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders defeated the 6th seeded Florida Gators 69-66 in the East region Saturday night.
The Red Raiders were led by senior guard Keenan Evans who scored a team-high 22 points on 8-14 shooting. Evans and the Red Raiders went into the locker room down 33-32.
In the second half, the Red Raiders led by as much as 8, 58-50 with 7:53 left. Florida battled back, and down by 3 with :26 seconds, the Gators forced a Keenan Evans turnover.
Florida had 2 great looks at tying the game, but shots by Egor Koulechov and KeVaugh Allen rimmed out, and the Red Raiders survived.
With the win, Texas Tech advances to the sweet 16 in Boston Friday night (time TBA). The Red Raiders will face the winner of Purdue/Butler.
