The college basketball offseason is here, and we decided to have some fun over the next few months, ranking ALL 364 teams in D1. Number 107 is Louisiana Tech basketball.
Before you say we’re crazy – or that all of this is up for debate, let’s go over the very intricate process of how we came to this conclusion. We took a very statistical approach – with the help of Chat GPT – taking into consideration everything from March Madness wins and finishes, to AP Poll appearances, to conference players of the year. And then, a good friend of ours, Scott Blanchard, took our approach to the MAX.

Overall scoop on Louisiana Tech basketball
Up next is a Louisiana Tech basketball program with some of the best power forwards of all time. Karl Malone, Paul Millsap, and PJ Brown all once suited up for the Bulldogs. All three rank in the top 100 in career rebounds in NBA history, so you could make a case that LA Tech is “Power Forward U.”
Surprisingly, Millsap never led them to the NCAA Tournament, but Malone took them to the Sweet 16 in 1985 as a junior, the program’s best run in March Madness history.
To be fair, they’ve only gone dancing five times, but this Bulldogs program has a lot more history than that story tells. From 1984 to 1991, they had all five of their NCAA Tournament appearances, with a little bit of a mini-dynasty.
But the Bulldogs have had plenty of other chances, winning 13 regular season titles across the Southland, American South Conference, Sun Belt, WAC, and Conference USA. It doesn’t matter where they have played; Louisiana Tech always finds a way to be a leading program in their league.
But here’s the craziest fact about Louisiana Tech – 13 20-win seasons in their last 17. It’s a shame they haven’t been able to play in the NCAA Tournament in this span, because they have been one of the most consistent mid-majors in the country. They can thank coaches like Michael White, Eric Konkol, and now, Talvin Hester, for keeping the tradition alive.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t led to a lot of postseason success. Still, you can’t take away how great the Bulldogs have been and their history of some of the best big men in college hoops history.
