Overall scoop on Purdue Fort Wayne basketball

Formerly known as IPFW, Purdue Fort Wayne basketball may not have an NCAA Tournament appearance, but it might be one of the best mid-majors without one.

24 seasons in, the Mastodons have averaged 15.3 wins per season, finishing with a winning record 13 times – more than half the time. They even won the Summit League regular season title in 2016 and the Horizon League in 2022, but neither year was able to win the conference tourney.

2016 would have been their best overall chance, with Max Landis winning the conference POY, the only time that’s been done in program history.

Lately, the program has been as consistent as ever, with five straight winning seasons. Head coach Jon Coffman has been there for a dozen seasons and seems to enjoy his time, not bolting for any other jobs. An NCAA tourney appearance should be coming soon at this rate.
