The Buckeyes are currently on a two game losing streak; however, for both of the games the win was within reach. They lost to Oregon 73-71 and Wisconsin 70-68. Their other two conference losses were against Michigan State with a final score of 69-62 and an 83-59 loss to Maryland. Ohio State currently has only two wins within the Big Ten conference, but will be looking to make that three when they take on the Hoosiers. One of these wins was a close game against Minnesota with a final score of 89-88 after double overtime. They also defeated Rutgers 80-66. Ohio State has had experience with close games this season and Indiana has not, so this will undoubtedly be an advantage they have over the Hoosiers.
Currently, junior guard Bruce Thornton is the leading scorer for Ohio State, averaging 17.4 points per game. He scored a season high of 33 points in their game against Indiana State where the Buckeyes won 103-83. The Buckeyes are led by head coach Jake Diebler who was named to this position on March 17, 2024.
Latest on Indiana basketball:
It is an extremely disappointing time to be an Indiana fan as the team has suffered two 25 point losses in a row, one of them being in Assembly Hall. Their 94-69 loss to Illinois was not only embarrassing but historic as it was one of the worst losses in program history. Indiana played with very little effort, shot 22% from the 3 point line, gave up 51 rebounds, and on top of all that got involved in an on-court scuffle with about two minutes left to play. The incident led to Luke Goode fouling out and Oumar Ballo being ejected from the game. In a press conference after the game, head coach Mike Woodson alluded to the fact that Ballo may not be traveling with the team to Columbus. Furthermore, Malik Reneau will most likely still be out against the Buckeyes.
There is not much to say about Indiana at this point other than the obvious which is that they have a lot they need to change to turn this season around. However, after listening to Luke Goode and Anthony Leal’s post game interviews, it is evident that they have faith that they can change the trajectory of this team.
Indiana vs Ohio State prediction: Buckeyes by 25 (85-60)
It’s very hard to predict the outcome of this game as both teams are on a losing streak, although these losses look very different. If Indiana comes out how they have against Iowa and Illinois, then they could be facing yet another double digit loss. If they play how they did against USC and Penn State, then they could come back to Bloomington with a win. However, following their recent ways, Buckeyes win this by a lot.
