Red Scare is one of the most experienced teams in TBT. After a disappointing result last year, the Dayton alumni have a point to prove in 2024.

The Flyers alumni lost their opening game on home court in 2023 against India Rising 77-67. Losing the first game as a #1 seed in the region is bad enough, but doing it in front of all of your fans makes it sting even more. Red Scare is out for vengeance this summer.

Team MVP: Wes Clark

Clark made the journey down Interstates 90 and 71 from Blue Collar U after the Buffalo alumni were unable to get a team together this summer. Red Scare fans will remember him very well as he was the one who eliminated the Dayton alumni in the tournament semifinals in 2022.

Having a player familiar with TBT is going to bolster Red Scare’s roster significantly… even if he joins from enemy territory. Clark’s scoring ability around the perimeter will be needed as this team of Dayton alumni isn’t very deep at the guard position.

Make-or-Break Player: Joshua Cunningham

Cunningham is coming off his best season of professional basketball playing for Bigua in the Uruguay league. The former Flyer averaged 19 points and nine rebounds per game, numbers that surpassed even his best season at Dayton.

Cunningham’s ability to work low in the post is only going to benefit Red Scare. The team of mostly Dayton alumni are going to rely on Cunningham a lot this summer as he brings the most experience to the table. After not playing last summer, he was one that was surely missed on the court. His presence will be huge for Red Scare.

Team Outlook

Red Scare isn’t going down quietly, especially not after being upset at home. That upset cost them a seed line in this year’s tournament, but the Flyers alumni are still expected to be the heavy favorites in the opening round. Cunningham and Clark will lead the way, but others are going to be expected to help out significantly.

The bracket sets itself up for the Dayton alumni to have a second-round matchup with Carmen’s Crew, the Ohio State alumni. Carmen’s Crew is another very experienced team when it comes to TBT, so Red Scare will certainly have its hands full in the second round. The road to glory for Red Scare won’t be easy, so the will to win is going to determine just how far this group goes.
