The college basketball offseason is here, and we decided to have some fun over the next few months, ranking ALL 364 teams in D1. Number 362 is New Haven basketball.
Before you say we’re crazy – or that all of this is up for debate, let’s go over the very intricate process of how we came to this conclusion. We took a very statistical approach – with the help of Chat GPT – taking into consideration everything from March Madness wins and finishes, to AP Poll appearances, to conference players of the year. And then, a good friend of ours, Scott Blanchard, took our approach to the MAX.

Overall scoop on New Haven basketball
We mentioned it in the intro article, but the first four teams in our series were lumped together because they’re all SO new to college basketball, they haven’t even played enough seasons to qualify for the postseason. New Haven is at the top of that list because they just finished their first-ever season in D1, winning 14 games.
The Chargers went 9-9 in the NEC, with their top three scorers as two sophomores and one junior. They won four of their last six games and ended the season knocking off Le Moyne, who was 363rd in our rankings.
New Haven’s journey is interesting because they never even reached a Final Four at the Division II level, but felt the move to DI was worth it. After one year, it doesn’t look like a bad call, but we’ll have to see where the Chargers go from there.
