The college basketball offseason is here, and we decided to have some fun over the next few months, ranking ALL 364 teams in D1. Number 361 is Mercyhurst basketball.

Before you say we’re crazy – or that all of this is up for debate, let’s go over the very intricate process of how we came to this conclusion. We took a very statistical approach – with the help of Chat GPT – taking into consideration everything from March Madness wins and finishes, to AP Poll appearances, to conference players of the year. Overall scoop on Merychurst basketball

The Lakers just joined Division I college basketball in 2024, but they already look as if they belong. Sure, the NEC isn’t a premier conference, but at 32-33 over the course of two seasons, there hasn’t been an adjustment to be made. They’ve also finished above .500 in conference both seasons, so the rest of the NEC has taken note.

The Lakers are coached by Gary Manchel, who has held that position since 2003-24 and has won nearly 400 career games in town. And his teams always defend, with TEN top 10 defensive finishes in the country before moving on up to D1.

The outlook for Merchurst basketball is to keep on performing well in the NEC, and you never know what their next step will be.
