Latest on Washington basketball:

The Washington Huskies are not having an incredibly successful season, going 4-13 in their first season playing in the Big Ten Conference. In their most recent game at Washington, they came up short with a final score of 88-62. In that game Great Osobor led the way in scoring, finishing with 11 points. The senior forward is currently Washington’s leading scorer, averaging 14.9 points a game and shooting 47.3% from the 3-point line. Another key to Washington’s lineup is center Franck Kepnang who had seven rebounds in the game against Wisconsin and is leading the Huskies in rebounds, averaging 5.1 per game along with 6.2 points.

When looking at their schedule, a win that stands out was against conference opponent Penn State where the game ended with a final score of 75-73. In that game, Osobar provided 6 points and 13 rebounds. Kepnang added 14 points and 5 rebounds.

Washington falls last in the current Big Ten rankings. After Indiana, they will take on USC and then Oregon. All three of these games are extremely vital to the Huskies if they want any chance of seeing Big Ten tournament play in Indianapolis.

Latest on Indiana basketball:

The Indiana basketball team is currently on a two-game winning streak and will look to extend that streak as they travel to Washington in the first of two games that they will play while they are out West.

In their most recent game against Penn State, they came out on top with a final score of 83-78. The Nittany Lions were aggressive both on and off the ball, but the Hoosiers managed to remain focused and play their own basketball. Key player Malik Reneau was not only out but was not in attendance due to illness, so there were some significant changes to the starting lineup. The first five on the floor were Oumar Ballo, Trey Galloway, Mackenzie Mgbako, Luke Goode, and Anthony Leal, with only Myles Rice, Kanaan Carlyle and Langdon Hatton coming off of the bench.

Once again, Ballo led the way in both scoring and rebounding, posting a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. That’s not to say that scoring was not evenly dispersed as four other plays on the Indiana roster scored in the double digits against Penn State.

After Washington, Indiana will travel to Oregon and then back home to play Ohio State in their last regular season match up of the season. These next three games are extremely vital for the Hoosiers to gain some momentum heading into the Big Ten tournament and securing a spot in the NCAA tournament.
