The Knights enter this contest 6th in the Big 12 having won at Arizona State in a close contest 95-89. Junior guard Keyshawn Hall broke out for 40 points, seven rebounds, and six assists while shooting 72% from the field. Senior guard Darius Johnson added 17 points with a team-high seven assists. Hall has been the leading scorer for UCF this season with 17.6 PPG and 6.6 RPG. Johnson comes in second with just over 15 PPG but leads the Knights in 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals per game.
UCF has also won Big 12 games against Texas Tech and Colorado. Johnny Dawkins is in his ninth season with the Knights and 17th overall. Dawkins has struggled to win against Houston and Kelvin Sampson over the years with a 2-13 record against them at UCF.
The series history between the Cougars and Knights goes way back to when the teams were Conference USA rivals back in 2005 and 2013 before the two programs joined the American Athletic Conference from 2013-2023. This is the 20th straight season that the two schools will face off, and Houston has won the last nine games. In their most recent encounters, the Cougars swept last year’s series with a 57-42 win at home in January and a 69-57 win in Orlando in March.
Houston overall has a 10-6 record in Orlando and has won the last six meetings there.

The Cougars won on Wednesday 70-54 at home vs West Virginia in their first Quad one win of the season so far. It was the closest win Houston has had and showed their growth from early on in the year. Graduate forward J’Wan Roberts scored a season-high 22 points to lead the charge for UH. Graduate guard LJ Cryer had 18 points, with a crucial 12 in the second half along with 14 points from junior guard Emanuel Sharp. Houston has held nine straight opponents under 60 points which is the second-longest streak in Big 12 history.
The Cougars lead the nation in scoring defense as usual (54.2 PPG) and have moved up to second in three-point shooting at 41.5%. Sharp helps make that happen as the Tampa native leads the Big 12 and is second nationally with 47.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Junior point guard Milos Uzan now leads the Big 12 with a 3.85 assist-turnover ratio.
