Wisconsin basketball is set to begin conference play on Tuesday night as they face Michigan at home.
Wisconsin basketball has been one of the biggest surprises early into this 2024-25 college basketball season, going 8-0, vaulting to No. 11 in the AP Rankings. They have answered every call, winning two games against high quality opponents (No. 9 Arizona and Pittsburgh). Now, they face another tough test at home, where they will put their undefeated record on the line.

What to know about Michigan:
This is not the same Wolverines squad that went 8-24 last season. Michigan has impressed early on, winning both of their games Thanksgiving Week against Virginia Tech and No. 22 Xavier. Not only did they beat their first ranked opponent of the season, but they did so in dominant fashion. Danny Wolf and Vladislav Goldin combined for 38 points. The two big men are both over 7-feet tall, and will prove to be a difficult test for Steven Crowl and Nolan Winter. Michigan has outrebounded their opponents by an average of 5.1 rebounds per game.
The latest on Wisconsin basketball:
Wisconsin did not have the most impressive win against Chicago State on Saturday, but it counted all the same. The Badgers led by just seven points at halftime against a team that was 0-8. John Tonje continued to get to the free throw line often, shooting 9-for-10 from the stripe. Tonje led the team with 22 points, and Nolan Winter added 12 points of his own. Their 74-53 win was nothing to write home about, but their undefeated season remains alive nonetheless. Wisconsin will need a solid performance both from the perimeter and from down low if they want to thwart off the Wolverines.
