Wisconsin basketball looks to keep rolling on Monday against UT-Rio Grande Valley following their impressive win over #9 Arizona.

Wisconsin basketball could not have asked for a better start to the season, as they look to enter the AP Top 25 rankings following their upset win over Arizona. UT-Rio Grande Valley enters the matchup at 3-2 after winning the Greenbriar Tip-Off.

What to know about UT-Rio Grande Valley:

The Vaqueros have faced some high-quality opponents early in the season. They were competitive in their season opener at Nebraska, trailing by just six points at halftime before falling 87-67. They then played #15 Creighton tight on the road, falling 86-99.

Since then, the Vaqueros have rattled off three straight victories. They have attempted 177 three-pointers over their first five games (35.4 att/game). K.T. Raimey has led in scoring, averaging 15 points per game despite the fact that he has not started this season. Similar to Wisconsin’s first three opponents, the Vaqueros are slightly undersized with their tallest player clocking in at 6-9. Despite their smaller size, they have a +6.2 rebounding margin per game.

The latest on Wisconsin basketball:

The Badgers have been firing on all cylinders, and have shown an identity early in the season. John Tonje has been the go-to scorer, as he put up 41 points against Arizona. Nolan Winter has had a commanding presence in the paint, and guards Kamari McGee, John Blackwell, and Max Klesmit have all been contributing nicely to the offense.

Wisconsin has also received support from some fresh faces off the bench. Xavier Amos has 18 points over Wisconsin’s last two games. Redshirt freshman Jack Janicki, had 9 points against Arizona despite not having scored in his college career prior to the game. Head coach Greg Gard has been high on Janicki coming into the season, and it is likely that Janicki will receive extended minutes off the bench tonight.
