Hodgson coached under Nate Oats for eight years and Oats’s first four seasons in Tuscaloosa before taking the head coaching job for Arkansas State. This is the fourth meeting for the two teams, with Alabama winning the first three matchups and taking the most recent one last season, winning 89-65.

The Red Wolves are coming off a 80-75 overtime victory over Akron in the MAC-Sun Belt challenge, where had three guys score in double figures. In year one under Hodgson, finishing 20-17 and finishing 4th in conference play with a 11-7 record.

The team was led by Arkansas transfer Joseph Pinion on Monday, who put up 16 points. The Red Wolves are a team filled with four transfers from the Power 5 level. The team plays almost identically to the Alabama “blue collar” brand shooting around 30 threes a game with a fast tempo.
