What to know about SIU Edwardsville
After SIUE dominated Missouri Baptist by a score of 87-56 during their exhibition game on October 27, they carried that momentum into the regular season with an even more impressive 95-42 win against Westminster on Monday.
Graduate student guard Ray’Sean Taylor and his cousin, junior guard Brian Taylor II each recorded 15 points. Incredibly, 13 of 14 rostered players scored including 53 bench points. The Cougars held the lead for all but a minute and a half of the contest. From the field, they shot 39 for 82 (47.6%) with 29 points off turnovers. This was SIUE Basketball’s largest winning point differential since December 2021.

Preseason No. 17 ranked Indiana is coming off of a strong final exhibition win of 106-64 against Marian on Friday night. With a starting lineup of Myles Rice, Oumar Ballo, Malik Reneau, Mackenzie Mgbako, and Trey Galloway, the Hoosiers shot a sizzling 46-70 (65.7%) from the floor on 33 assists. They ended the contest with 48 rebounds and 15 second-chance points. The bench added 53 points. Indiana kept the speed of play up with 29 fast break points.
Individually, freshman wing, Bryson Tucker dropped 19 points in his college debut. He led the team in scoring and has IU supporters optimistic about what’s to come. Junior forward, Malik Reneau contributed 18 points for the Hoosiers. Also noteworthy, Arizona transfer, redshirt senior, and center Oumar Ballo scored 16 in the victory. Senior guard, Trey Galloway is back after not dressing during the previous exhibition against preseason No. 12 Tennessee due to his knee surgery last spring.
