UConn basketball secures their third commitment for the Class of 2025 from 5-Star Braylon Mullins.

Head Coach Dan Hurley and his staff hit the recruiting trail hard this off-season with their sights set on bringing in an elite class to Storrs.

They have done just that with three Top 30 recruits (including Darius Adams and Eric Reibe) announcing their commitments to play for UConn basketball in the last month. The Huskies recruiting class is now ranked second in the country.

Braylon Mullins is a fringe 5-star recruit as 247 Sports has him ranked as such with ESPN and Rivals both ranking him at the top of the 4-stars. 247 Sports has Mullins ranked 16th in the country and their composite rankings consider him a 5-star prospect.

Bio

Braylon Mullins is from Greenfield, Indiana where he plays high school basketball for Greenfield-Central. Listed at 6′-5″ and 180 lbs, Braylon is a good sized guard who excels at shooting the ball.

Like his fellow UConn commits, Mullins received plenty of local attention before flying up the recruiting boards over the last year with impressive performances for the Indiana Elite competing in the Adidas 3SSB (3 Stripes Select Basketball) Circuit.

Braylon’s finalists included Indiana, North Carolina, and UConn with his final decision being to continue his basketball career in Storrs, CT.

How does Braylon Mullins fit in with UConn basketball?

Dan Hurley excels at finding players who fit his program and Mullins is just that. An incredible shooter, perhaps the best in the entire 2025 class, Braylon will be able to seamlessly fit in with the complex offensive sets that UConn runs.

Being a threat from outside the arc also creates opportunities for Mullins as he’s comfortable cutting to the basket and shooting a mid-range jump shot as needed. His athleticism allows him to fit in the flow of UConn’s offense where it seems like everyone is constantly moving to create the best look.

Defensively, Braylon is quick to close out his assignment and contest a shot attempt or to disrupt the passing lanes and force a turnover. One of the key areas that Hurley’s staff will be able to help Mullins grow is by turning him into an elite defender which will give him plenty of play time to find his rhythm on offense.

It’s difficult to project exactly what the starting lineup will look like on opening night in 2025, but Mullins will have to work extremely hard to crack that starting five right away. UConn basketball should be loaded with great guard play between potential returners Aidan Mahaney, Solo Ball, and Ahmad Nowell. With that being said, expect Mullins to have a role right away purely because of his shooting with the opportunity for longer runs on the court if his court vision and defense align with Hurley’s high expectations.
