Bio
Eric Reibe is initially from Germany and moved to the United States to play high school basketball at The Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland.
He has FIBA experience playing for the Germany U16 and U18 European Championship teams as well as playing at the club level in the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders development program.
Eric skyrocketed up the rankings this past Summer with stand-out performances in various recruiting and scouting events that caught the attention of all the major programs previously mentioned. Last Spring, he wasn’t inside the Top 100 and now finds himself in the Top 30.
How does Eric Reibe fit with UConn basketball?
Frankly, there doesn’t seem to be a better fit for the offensive system that Dan Hurley runs. Reibe has a listed height of 7′-0″, but he is truly able to stretch the floor with his outside shooting and ability to read defenses. Whether it’s dribble handoffs, pick and rolls, or posting up on the block Eric can do it all. Notably, he took over seven threes per game in his Junior season at the Bullis School and will be a truly dynamic piece of future Husky lineups.
In his live commitment with 247 Sports, Eric spoke on why he chose UConn saying, “I think it’s the best place for me to develop as a basketball player and a human being”. Eric is a motivated athlete who continuously strives to improve himself both on and off the court which appears to line up well with Dan Hurley’s vision for what it takes to be a Husky.
As far as specific roles go, it would be difficult for Eric Reibe to crack the starting lineup to begin his UConn basketball career. That is assuming both Tarris Reed and Youssouf Singare return for their Senior and Junior seasons, respectively. Even with those players still around, Reibe’s ability to stretch the floor should differentiate him enough to earn a steady role right away and who knows what could happen over the course of a college basketball season.
Reibe joins his new teammate Darius Adams as the second member of UConn basketball’s 2025 recruiting class. UConn also has their eyes set on another 4-star in Braylon Mullins, who will be making his college decision on Wednesday, October 23rd.
