TCU basketball comes into this season looking for a deeper postseason run after crashing out early last year in the NCAA Tournament.
The tradition continues! CBB Review is again ranking the top 100 teams heading into the new college basketball season. Each day, we will reveal the next team until we reach the team slotted at number one. Up next: TCU basketball.
Last season was the third straight trip to the Big Dance for the Horned Frogs as Jamie Dixon has turned this program around. Unfortunately for him, he ran into Utah State in the Round of 64 in the Midwest Region against a Utah State team that was riding momentum from the Mountain West Tournament.
Competition in the Big 12 is only getting tougher, and the Horned Frogs have plenty of work to do going into the season. TCU has lost its four best scorers from a year ago and was a senior-heavy squad which creates a lot of questions about just how good this team will be in 2024-25.
This year’s team features five transfers including former Arizona State point guard Frankie Collins. Collins started all 28 games for the Sun Devils a season ago and looks to bring his experience from the Pac-12 to the Big 12.
We might have picked TCU basketball to finish 10th in the Big 12, but this is one of the deepest basketball conferences in the country.

TCU Basketball Team MVP: Frankie Collins
Frankie Collins has the difficult task of being thrust into a new offense and leading the way from Day 1. However, this isn’t his first rodeo joining a new team and should have no problems in Dixon’s offense.
Collins is no stranger to being the main scorer as he was so often last year at Arizona State. Some of that pressure will be relieved with more of a supporting cast around him this year, but he’s still expected to be the main guy in the Horned Frogs offense.
TCU Basketball Make-or-Break Player: Trezarien White
It’s tough to slot a transfer in as the make-or-break player, but Trezarien White is truly going to help determine just how good this TCU team is this season. After coming up just a little short of averaging a double-double last season, he’s going to be relied upon to help Ernest Udeh Jr. down low in scoring, rebounding and defense.
White certainly showed his ability to play at both ends of the court last season at UNC Wilmington, but the Big 12 is a different breed. His ability to adjust is going to determine just how strong this squad can be.
Key Analytic: Eliminating turnovers
Jamie Dixon’s style of play matches the Big 12 quite well. Fast, up-tempo and physical. However, this is a TCU team that turned the ball over an average of 12.9 times per game last season. That number was tied for the second-worst in the Big 12.
With a new group of players this season, the Horned Frogs are going to have to focus on keeping it simple and avoid mistakes. Turnovers can be the difference maker between wins or losses, and TCU needs to do everything it can to not give away wins in a tough conference.
