DaGuys STL return for Chapter 2 in TBT after falling short last year.
A brutal loss in its debut, DaGuys STL lost 72-69 to Team Arkansas in the first round. This team played last year in Omaha, but this year are making their way to the Wichita Regional. They’ll get another difficult draw as they have matched up with Purple & Black, the K-State Alumni team, setting up for a classic Kansas vs Missouri rivalry matchup. However, DaGuys STL hopes that some of their 221K followers on youtube and social media will make their way to Wichita to support and cheer them on.

Team MVP: Jordan Barnes
Jordan Barnes spent this last season in Germany and showed off his talent. He averaged 17.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.7 steals for the season. When it comes to scoring, Barnes can do it in many ways. He shot an incredible 44.1% from 3-point range. He can get the defense crossed up for space, stop on a dime, or sell a different shot. Barnes can pass but prefers to take it himself. He will give it to cutters or when he sees a defense breakdown before kicking it out to an open shot. On a team looking for highlight reel content, Barnes will give it to them.
Make-or-break Player: De’Marco Owens
Looking at the roster, De’Marco Owens looks like the first player to play inside out. This team has some serious guard play with scorers. With his size at 6’8, Owens will have to play any position 3 to 5, meaning he will need to be light on his feet defensively. At the same time, he will need to use his size to his advantage. He can shoot the 3-pointer, shooting 31.7% from beyond the arc, but DaGuys STL will likely use him as a back-to-the-basket big man.
Looking at his stats from Argentina in 2022-2023, Owens averaged 16.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.5 steals. He is showing he can score, but he will need to get closer to double-digit rebounds to succeed. DaGuys STL will need to want it more than whoever they play defensively. To truly separate themselves, Owens will be a crucial piece of this plan.
Team Outlook

Along with Barnes, Josh Webster will most likely be the guy to carry the scoring load for DaGuys STL. Webster put up 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.7 steals playing in Mexico. He could very well be the team MVP. Courtney Stockard is another shooter for this team. Stockard averaged 16.6 points while shooting 32.7% from 3-point range. Finally, Tanner Stuckman averaged 11.5 points and shot 36.8% from 3-point range. After this, the rest of the team has very little stats in recent history. Still, they have a lot of players who could score, and as we saw last year, can’t be taken for granted.
DaGuys could become a fan favorite in Wichita with humor and enjoyment. This team could get a rematch in the second round. If this team can catch fire and move past Purple & Black, they could challenge Team Arkansas. DaGuys STL would love a chance to get revenge. One thing about the Wichita regional is that Cinderellas can gain popularity. Audiences gravitate to teams that beat hometown teams with talent and hard work. If DaGuys STL beat Purple & Black, a bigger audience would likely be ready to cheer them on in the second round. Make sure to follow DaGuys on Youtube for what should be extremely entertaining content all week long.
