College basketball futures advice: Tread Lightly

The futures market is the only market college basketball bettors can delve into at the moment. Until the season is officially set in stone, I’d be super hesitant to wager on championship futures.

As the 2019-20 season came to an abrupt ending, all college basketball futures wagers were graded as losses. While it’s unlikely we see the 2021 NCAA Tournament canceled,  with only one team getting the chance to cut the nets, I’d rather wager my money elsewhere; unless the value is through the roof.

Last season the only futures wagers I made were in regards to team win totals and conference championships:

Gonzaga OVER 25 wins (-115)

KU to win Big 12 (+270)

Team win totals/conference championship futures will be available the closer we get to the season. While right now it might be hard to not want to throw some coin on a 25-1 longshot like Houston, the more disciplined one can be with their bankroll the more it will benefit them once we are back in season.
