There are only a few college basketball games on Friday, but there are still some big ones as we get closer to March Madness.

Heading into the weekend, just because Saturday is loaded with key games to watch, don’t discount Friday’s much smaller slate.

Dayton (15-8, 6-4) at VCU (17-6, 8-2) – 7 p.m. on ESPN2

While Saint Louis is nearly a lock for March Madness, VCU is next in line and a bit further back. They host a Dayton team outside of at-large contention, but in play for a good seed and maybe a run in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. For the Rams, it’s about holding off a pesky Flyers team.

Brown (7-13, 1-6) at Yale (16-4, 5-2) – 7 p.m. on ESPN+

Yale’s at-large chances are only possible if they run the table from here and lose in the Ivy League Tournament Finals.

#3 UConn (22-1, 12-0) at #22 St. John’s (17-5, 10-1) – 8 p.m. on FOX

We’ve got a great one in the Big East on Friday night! UConn’s hunt for a one-seed is at a critical point, needing a Quad 1 win to keep pace with Arizona, Michigan, and Duke. St. John’s is close to a lock, and can pretty much wrap that discussion up with a win over the Huskies.

Rick Pitino. Danny Hurley. Madison Square Garden. Doesn’t get better than that!

Belmont (21-3, 11-2) at UIC (13-11, 8-5) – 9 p.m. on ESPNU

Like Yale, Belmont can’t afford another loss until conference tournament time to get an at-large bid.
