What to know about Vermont

The Vermont Catamounts finished the season 28-7 and won the American East championship for the fifth time in six years. Their dominance in the conference earned them a 13 seed in the NCAA tournament, their third consecutive NCAA postseason appearance.

Vermont returns three of its four top-leading scorers from the 2023-24 season, including former Fairfield transfer TJ Long, who is in his second season with the Catamounts. Long was second-team all-American East, averaging 12 PPG, four RPG, and 1.4 APG.

Led by head coach John Becker, who is in his 14th season with the program, the Catamounts will be looking to pull the upset as a formidable NCAA tournament team will be provided an early season test.

Latest on Auburn basketball

After a pair of exhibition games, the Tigers look to continue their dominance at home. They begin a grueling out-of-conference schedule this year and start with their first game in Neville Arena with a Vermont team that is not to be overlooked.

All-SEC first-team center Johni Broome has powered the Tigers, but freshmen and transfers will power the roster. Head coach Bruce Pearl stated that the starting lineups will be fluid throughout the season, and the Tigers will get to showcase their first version this Wednesday.
