Alabama basketball point guard Mark Sears is one of 20 players named to the 2025 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award Watchlist, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Sears returns to Tuscaloosa for his third year delaying a year of playing professionally after leading the Crimson Tide to its first-ever Final Four appearance last season. Last season, Sears averaged 21.5 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.

Sears is just one of six SEC players mentioned along with Walter Clayton Jr. from Florida, Josh Hubbard from Mississippi State, Zakai Zeigler from Tennessee, Jordan Pope from Texas and Wade Taylor IV from Texas A&M.

The award is in its 22nd year and is named after Class of 1971 Hall of Famer and Former Boston Celtics and Holy Cross Point Guard Bob Cousy. The award winner will be announced during the Final Four in San Antonio in April.

Sears and Alabama basketball will begin the season next Monday at home against UNC-Asheville at 8 p.m. central time on ESPNU.
