Patriotic Teams: Top Three

In honor of the Fourth of July, I’d like to recognize and honor not only the independence we gained 243 years ago, but also the college teams that hold the most patriotic names (and mascots) in the game.

Below are the top three most patriotic (in my opinion) teams.

  1. The UMass Minutemen.

Minutemen are members of the American military, from the period before and during the American Revolution, who volunteered themselves for service- at a minute’s notice. Without our troops, and the battles that were fought for us to gain our independence, the U.S. would not be the country it is today.

  1. The George Mason Patriots.

Patriots are those who love and support their country, and will fight for it if necessary. Not all who are patriotic are patriots, but all who are patriots are patriotic.

  1. The American Eagles.

With a name like that, it should be of no surprise that the American Eagles are housed in our nation’s capital. As it’s known, eagles (specifically bald eagles) are not only our national emblem, but they also represent freedom and strength- exactly what Independence Day stands for.
