With No Surprise Michigan Moves onto Round of 32
For the No. 15 University of Montana Grizzles, a short-lived NCAA Tournament run ended at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa where they were taken down by No. 2 University of Michigan Wolverines 74-55.
The first half was everything Michigan wanted with a 13 point lead and an obvious high chance of beating a No. 15 team early on in the match up. At 34-21, Montana was loosing a lot ground with its 3-point shooting at only 9 percent. Michigan wasn’t too much better with 22 percent shot rate and should have been able to do more damage given the fact they are No. 2 team.
There was no surprise when Michigan put a good distance in between themselves and Montana with a 14 point lead in the second half securing the win from the very start to ensure they would move on in the tournament.
Wolverine’s Charles Matthews, scored a high of 22 points putting himself above Grizzle’s Sayeed Pridgett with 17 points. In both halves, Michigan came out strong and didn’t give their lead up once which showed that they were there to win and they were not about to let Montana come anywhere near their chances of moving forward.
Michigan will take on No. 10 University of Florida Gators on Friday, March 22nd where they hope to pull off the same score if not better in this next NCAA Tournament match up. There is no telling what this game could bring score wise since there have been multiple upsets already. This could be Florida’s chance to push past a No. 2 team and make their way into the Sweet 16, the same spot they didn’t end up in last tournament.
