Wildcats Keep War Eagles Down in the Rankings

The No. 12 University of Kentucky Wildcats showed No. 14 University of Auburn Tigers what it’s like to play on a court with SEC competitors. Finishing on top 82-80, Kentucky had an intense game at Auburn Arena in Alabama.

War Eagle’s senior, Bryce Brown came out on top scoring 28 points while Wildcat’s freshman Keldon Johnson, and freshman Tyler Herro scored 20 apiece. Starting 3 freshmen on the court proved to be an advantage in the match-up.

Auburn took a 80-79 lead with 32 seconds left, but Herro made 2 free throws with 25 seconds left in the nail-bitter contest. Freshman, Immanuel Quickley, added another one before the buzzer sounded.

Some might say that since Austin Wiley is now expected to miss a few weeks due to a lower leg injury it gave the Wildcats an even bigger size advantage over the team.

Auburn and Kentucky will face each other again in Lexington, KY n February 23rd where maybe a different performance outcome will surface.

Next up, Kentucky hosts No. 24 Mississippi State on Tuesday and Auburn has two straight hard-hitting SEC rad games against South Carolina on Tuesday and Mississippi State next Saturday
