Quade Green shocks Kentucky fans, announces he will transfer

Quade Green, the 26th best prospect in the 2017 recruiting class announced today that he will be transferring from Kentucky after two seasons. Green was leapfrogged from his starting point guard position back to back years, last year by Shai Gilgeous Alexander, and this year by Immanuel Quickley. Green has seen his minutes decrease all season, and only played a combined 18 minutes in the last two games before his announcement.

It is unclear as to where Green will look to transfer, but some teams to look out for are Duke, Syracuse, Villanova, and Temple. These 4 teams, along with Kentucky were his top 5 choices before he committed to Kentucky 2 years ago, and he may look to join one of these team next season. Quade’s season stats for Kentucky finish at 7.8 PPG, 1.4 RPG, and 2.3 APG. He did shoot 42% from three, and was a key shooter on a Kentucky team that has struggled from deep.

For Kentucky, this is a big loss, but they can cope with it. They are deep at guard, with Quickly and Ashton Hagans both great options, but they will deeply miss his three point shooting. Kentucky is coming off a big loss to Seton Hall and do not look like the same team that was ranked #2 at the start of the season. They are currently 7-2 and sitting at the 19th spot in the AP Top 25.
