Cincinnati chokes 22-point lead, Wolf Pack to Sweet 16

The Bearcats got off to a hot start, with a quick 10-0 lead over the Wolf Pack. With 15:43 left, Nevada used up two of its timeouts- an early sign of despair. Cincinnati continued to make shots all over the floor, with Jacob Evans leading the way with 15 points. Nevada started to heat up, yet Cincinnati left halftime leading 44-32.

Cincinnati continued their hot start with two quick shots right out of half-time. Nevada went on a 16-0 run to make It 65-59, causing the Bearcats to cause a timeout, and making the game too close for Cincinnati’s comfort. The game looked to be a blowout until Nevada’s energy came out with a quick pace and fierce pressure that cut the Bearcats lead to single-digits. Nevada remained unstoppable, making the game tied 73-73 with 47 seconds left. 47 seconds then became 9.1 seconds, as the Wolf Pack took a 75-73 lead, and win.

Nevada rallied from being down 22 points, with Cody Martin heading the way for the Wolf Pack with 25 points. The only lead Nevada held was for 9.1 seconds, and it was that very lead that won them the game.


With a huge comeback in tow, the Nevada Wolf Pack is headed to the Sweet 16. They will face Loyola-Chicago on Thursday, the 22nd.
